PHYSICAL EDUCATION
Physical Education Dress Code
In physical education students are required to change from their school clothing into athletic appropriate clothing for class and then change back into their school clothes after class.
Suggested items are as follows:
T-shirt: A clean, short or long sleeve pullover shirt. Tank tops, half shirts and cami’s are not permitted. The T – Shirt does not need a collar. Key terminology in selecting a T– Shirt is “Athletic” and “Appropriate”.
Shorts: A clean pair of athletic shorts that is acceptable in length and fullness for freedom of movement, but will stay in place without being held up by the hand or belt. Pants or shorts need to be worn around the waist. Underclothing may not be visible. Shorts made of denim, or other heavy material with zippers, are not appropriate.
Sweat Shirt / Pants: Sweat shirts and / or sweat pants or jogging pants may be worn during cold weather days at the student's discretion. Pants may not drag on the ground as this creates a safety hazard. Coats or heavy jackets will not be acceptable.
Socks: Clean, white, athletic socks only.
Shoes: Soft-soled athletic shoes or tennis shoes may be worn and must be secured with tied laces or Velcro. Slip-on shoes, hiking or other hard-soled shoes, cleats, open-toes shoes, boots, or other casual shoes will not be allowed.
Headcovers, such as hats, bandanas, scarves etc may not be worn.
We cannot allow any student to dress in a manner that distracts others from learning, is offensive to others, or violates health or safety requirements. Clothing or ornamentation displaying or advertising substances that are illegal for minors are prohibited. Suggestive phrases, designs, markings, or profanities are also prohibited. Any apparel which may be considered sexually, culturally, or institutionally offensive as deemed by administration will not be allowed.
Backpacks may be carried to and from school, however, are not acceptable for transport of Physical Education attire. A bag that can be seen into and through, such as mesh or clear plastic is acceptable.
Jewelry may not be worn during class with exception of Medical and / or religious identification.
Ipods and cell phones are not permitted in the locker room.
