5 White Team Rules
We are implementing a discipline plan to develop a positive classroom environment which promotes effective instruction and learning. We hope to encourage students to exhibit appropriate behavior in school. Following are the rules, rewards, and consequences that will be used with all grade 5 students.
Rules:
1. Come to class with books, paper, pencil, homework, and assignment sheet or agenda.
2. Raise your hand and wait to be called on. Talking during instruction is unacceptable behavior.
3. Respect others and their property by keeping your hands and feet to yourself.
a. No pushing or shoving, even just joking around!
b. No physical contact!
4. Follow all directions the first time given. Be respectful and responsible
Students have the opportunity to earn points by exhibiting appropriate behavior. When our goal of 5,000 points is attained, one of the following rewards will be provided.
Rewards:
1. Silent ball
2. Electronic Recess
3. No Homework pass/coupon
4. Special video presentation
5. Game period
6. Privelage pass
7. Gold slip
8. Extra Recess
9. Any other appropriate rewards as determined by the team teachers and students.
What will happen if a student chooses not to follow the team rules?
Behavioral Consequences:
1. Warning - Name on board
2. Loss of recess - Name
3. Parent contact - Name and two checkmarks
4. Detention - Name and three checkmarks
5. Principal(s) will be contacted.
Homework Consequences - Missing or Incomplete:
1. No recess
2. Point deduction from quarterly homework grade
If a student is severly disruptive in the classroom and stops the teacher from teaching and other students from learning, an administrative intervention will be immediately imposed. This means that the student will be removed from the classroom.
During Quarter 1, any accumulation of 5 consequences, whether homework, behavior, or a combination of both, will result in an afterschool detention.
