Introduction:

There are many beautiful states in the United States. Each one of them is the home of fascinating places, important people, and interesting histories. In this project we are going to learn about some of the states in our United States.

 

Task:

You and your team partners have been hired by a travel agency.

Your job is to choose a state.

Choose a position or job.

Find out all the information you can. Sharing with your team partners.

You will produce an oral report and a poster that will encourage
tourists(the class) to visit your state.

 

.Process:

First, your team needs to name your travel agency.

Next each member needs to choose a job or position. Each
position is very important. You have a choice of four.

 

Cartographer

The cartographer's responsibility is to make a map of the state the
"travel agency " selected. The cartographer is to list important areas and
interests found in the state.

Include:
mountains, rivers, lakes,valleys,capital city, most important cities,
important sites and sites of interest.

Draw a key so others can understand how to read the map.



Economist

The Economist's responsibility is to report on the state's imports and
exports, manufacturing, factories,minerals, and any items the state
produces for itself or other locations. The populations and growth of the
state is very important, as well as, why the state is or is not growing.


Be sure to check with your "Travel Agency" teammates to verify your
information. Draw or add to the poster what the important products are
in the state.



Historian

The Historian's responsibility is to find any important events, people,or
locations.

Report important events as battles,declarations,discoveries and so on.
Find out if famous people, entertainers,politicians,historians were born
or buried in your state.

Be sure to check with your "Travel Agency" teammates to verify your
information. Remember to add your information to the poster.



Governor

The Governor's responsibility is to report who is the governor of
the state,when the state became a state and other important facts.
Other items would be, what are the symbols of the state, as the state
seal,state bird, state tree, and so on? Of course,exactly what makes this
state so great?

Be sure to check with your "Travel Agency" teammate to verify your
information and provide pictures or drawings of the symbols for the
poster.

Evaluation

 

You will be evaluated on the following:

Your level of cooperation and participation with
your team.

Group presentation

The quality of information gathered from your
research, using a minimum of 5 facts.

Group poster used in oral presentation.

You will score yourself on group cooperation and
participation collaboration rubric.

Your teammates will score you and each other on their
participation on a group participation rubric.

Your teacher will grade your team's oral presentation with
a rubric. The poster will also be scored on a rubric.
